Hurricane Katrina may have taken our homes & possessions, but it simply can not shake the spirit of Greater New Orleans. This website was established to stimulate business activity for our small consulting business, in addition to hopefully raising some money to assist our family members who literally lost everything in this storm. Our parents and sisters saw their lifelong possessions disappear along with their two story brick home and apartments. After cleaning up from 4 feet of water, our home, along with our in-laws are nearly finished being restored. Who would have thought we would experience such effects with our base home elevation at 9½' feet above sea level in Slidell on the Northshore of Lake Pontchartrain? While life as we knew it will never be the same, it's painful to see your childhood homes and memories in the New Orleans 9th Ward and St. Bernard, along with your Grammar, Middle & High Schools, all erased with Katrina's storm surge and destruction. But strange as it may seem, we are the lucky ones, who only have to rebuild our homes and find work. We're lucky that we don't have to live with the loss of a loved one, as so many on the Gulf Coast and Southeast Louisiana must. The Fleur de Lis is our adopted symbol which hails from King Louis XIV, The Sun King and is a French word meaning "flower of the lily". The Fleur de Lis symbolizes the French occupation of New Orleans, Louisiana and its territories from 1682-1762. Traditionally the Fleur de Lis represents the French monarchy and signifies life, light and perfection. In Christianity, the Fleur de Lis has also been used to represent the Holy Trinity and the Blessed Virgin Mary. Of course, the NFL New Orleans Saints Professional Football Team is easily identified by its Fleur de Lis emblazoned helmets. This symbol has many references, but in Greater New Orleans, the Fleur de Lis now represents the rebirth of our communities following the worst natural disaster in America's history.
